Union employees: Participate in the 2018 Wellness Rewards Program by Sept. 30 to earn incentives

Union employees and covered spouses currently enrolled in a WVU Medicine medical plan will have the opportunity to participate in the 2018 Wellness Rewards Program and save on their 2019 medical insurance premiums.

The program, which kicked off Aug. 1 and continues through Sunday, Sept. 30, has been simplified. Union employees will not be required to obtain blood tests or make an appointment for a physical; these steps have been required in the past.

Union employees and covered spouses will each need to complete a wellness profile and indicate tobacco status on the Highmark West Virginia website.

Union employees and their covered spouses must both attest to being tobacco free or if either is a tobacco user, enroll in one of the following tobacco cessation programs between Aug. 1 and Sept. 30:

  • Enroll in a FREE tobacco cessation program offered by Highmark West Virginia by calling Blues on Call at 1-888-BLUE-428, or
  • Visit the member website at www.highmarkbcbswv.com and enroll in the FREE tobacco cessation digital program

Those who complete the above steps will pay the reduced Gold level insurance premium of $89 per pay ($546 annual savings). Those who do not complete the above steps will pay the Bronze insurance premium of $110 per pay.

There is no tobacco surcharge for union employees. This surcharge only applies to non-union employees.
