Update for School of Nursing students, faculty and staff from Dean Tara Hulsey

With the University's announcement yesterday that the remainder of the semester will be online, the following will be in effect for the School of Nursing on all our campuses. Please read the following carefully.

Undergraduate students

  • All nursing classes will resume on Monday, March 23, 2020.
  • All nursing courses will be taught online.
  • All undergraduate clinical courses will be taught online.
  • Students should not return to campus for the rest of the spring 2020 semester.

Graduate students

  • All nursing classes will resume on Monday, March 23, 2020.
  • All nursing courses will be taught online.
  • Nurse Practitioner students: students who have completed 501 hours will complete the remaining hours virtually. Clock hours will be assigned for each activity.
  • Students with less than 501 hours will continue with their clinicals unless the site closes or stops receiving students.

If you have any specific questions about your courses, please work directly with your instructors.  They are equipped to help you.

Faculty and staff

Per WVU guidelines, only essential staff will be on our campuses for the rest of the semester. The best way to get in touch with your instructors and advisors is by phone, email or text.

I encourage you to read the following blog post from BeWell that can help you through this stressful time.

In addition, COVID-19 updates will appear on our School of Nursing coronavirus web page.

We know this is a trying and very anxious time, especially for our students. Our faculty and I are committed to you and your overall nursing education. Thank you for your support, your patience and your flexibility during this unprecedented event.

Be safe and be well!
