Virtual Health Safe Zone Training set for Nov. 9

A virtual Health Safe Zone Training will be offered Monday, Nov. 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. for professionals, students, faculty, and staff who are interested in gender-inclusive practices in healthcare.

During the training, participants will learn how to provide better care and services to transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming people. The training covers information on health disparities, demographic information, brief history of health-related activism, overview of gender-affirming practices, overall experiences with healthcare system and respective intersectional complications.

As a gender-inclusive professional, participants will learn ways to assess their current work and organization, practice inclusive language and solutions to positively impact their organizational climate.

This training is co-sponsored by the Gamma Mu Chapter of Delta Omega Public Health Honor Society and the WVU Student Healthcare Alliance for Promoting Equality (SHAPE) and it will be facilitated by the WVU LGBTQ+ Center.
