Additional Wellness Rewards program support event for employees Wednesday, Oct. 30

One additional support event has just been added for employees and covered spouses at J.W Ruby Memorial. The event is this Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 6:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in Chillpod G288E in the Market@HSC (Health Sciences, ground floor). Highmark representatives will be available to assist you with completing the Wellness Rewards Program. Please remember to bring your Highmark ID coverage card with you.

The Wellness Rewards Program for the 2020 plan year began May 1.

Highmark has partnered with Sharecare this year, and this new program will continue through Oct. 31. This updated Sharecare user guide can help participants through the process. The program requires employees and their covered spouses to complete three activities to receive the wellness incentives and to avoid the tobacco surcharge.

Required Activities

(1) Complete the RealAge® test. Go to mycare.sharecare.com. Follow the prompts to set up a new account or sign in with an existing Sharecare username and password. Enter your information exactly as it appears on your Highmark WV Member ID card. Then be sure to complete the “get started” steps to unlock your personalized experience. You and your covered spouse will each need to complete this step and must each use a unique email address to register.

Once you login to the site, on the left side, click the "Achieve" button/shield to begin the Wellness Rewards Program. Then click on the Rewards banner. You will then see two program tiles. The "WVU Medicine Tobacco Status Program" is the tile you and your covered spouse will each need to click to complete the RealAge® test and to indicate tobacco status separately.

(2) Indicate tobacco status. You and your covered spouse must each individually certify a tobacco-free status by clicking on the "WVU Medicine Tobacco Status Program" tile at mycare.sharecare.com and selecting confirm completion. If you and/or your covered spouse indicate tobacco use, complete one of the following FREE tobacco cessation activities by Oct. 31 to avoid the tobacco surcharge:

Complete "Tobacco Cessation Guide" by clicking on the activity within the Sharecare site and selecting "register now." (or)

Enroll in the "How to Be Tobacco Free" program offered by Highmark WV by calling Blues on Call at 1-888-BLUE-428 (press 5 for wellness).

(3) Receive a preventive exam. The deadline to receive a preventive exam is Oct. 31. If you and/or your covered spouse received a preventive exam between Nov. 1, 2017 and Oct. 31, 2019, you will receive credit for this activity. Your preventive exam must be billed through your WVU Medicine Medical Plan (Highmark WV) to receive credit for this step.

Throughout the program, preventive service claims will be loaded the first week of each month. There can be up to a six-week lag between your appointment and this credit appearing on the Sharecare platform. Once loaded, it will take 24 hours for your exam to appear after you have registered on the site. You will be able to view your preventive exam status by clicking on the "WVU Medicine Wellness Rewards Program" tile.

The incentive for completing the WVU Medicine Wellness Rewards Program, which includes the RealAge® test and receiving a preventive exam by you and your covered spouse, is a reduction of your 2020 medical plan deductible by $500 for employee only coverage and $1,000 for all other coverage levels.

You can also avoid the tobacco surcharge of $25 per pay if you attest to being tobacco-free or $50 per pay if both you and your spouse indicate you are both tobacco-free through completion of the "WVU Medicine Tobacco Status Program" tile in Sharecare. If you and/or your covered spouse indicate tobacco use, you and/or your spouse will need to complete a tobacco cessation activity through Sharecare.

Please note: If you and/or your covered spouse do not complete the "WVU Medicine Tobacco Status Program" tile to indicate tobacco-free status (or) indicate tobacco use and do not enroll in a tobacco cessation program by Oct. 31, the surcharge will automatically be deducted from your paycheck beginning in January 2020.

New Hires and Qualified Life Events Effective June 1

Newly hired employees or an employee who experiences certain qualified life event after June 1, 2019, will only need to complete the RealAge® test and indicate tobacco-free status or complete a tobacco cessation activity if unable to attest to being tobacco-free. If the employee enrolls their spouse, he or she will need to complete the RealAge® test and indicate tobacco-free status or complete a tobacco cessation activity if unable to attest to being tobacco-free.

Employees of Laborer’s Local 814

Employees of Laborer’s Local 814 must complete all three steps by Oct. 31 in order to receive the incentive for the 2020 medical plan year. The incentive will be determined by the 2020 agreement once finalized.
