WVU Alumna and Staff Join in Honoring Law Enforcement

WVU School of Medicine alumna Dr. Amanda Deskins and WVU Charleston Campus Development Director Renée Gorrell steered the committee for the inaugural Blue Bash in Charleston, WV, a gala event established by community-minded citizens centered on honoring the dedication, commitment, and sacrifice of law enforcement officers from around the region.  "We simply wanted to provide this night at no charge to honor, encourage, and thank all of the special men and women of our WV law enforcement community,”  said Dr. Deskins.

The Church at the Depot in Teays Valley, WV hosted the event held April 13 at the Charleston Marriott Town Center. The evening of free fun for law enforcement officers included dinner, live music from the Santa Cruz band, dancing, and the opportunity for camaraderie with other law enforcement officers.

Matt Davis, a staff pastor at the Church shared, "We have seen firsthand the level of personal sacrifice and commitment to our community our officers exemplify. As an organization that wants to continually make investments in our community, we simply want to provide this night to honor, encourage, and thank all the special men and women of our West Virginia law enforcement community."
