WVU Magazine highlights opioid researchers

A story called "Fighting Opioids" in the latest WVU Magazine highlights six West Virginia University researchers who are working toward solutions to the opioid epidemic in the U.S.

Thirteen people out of every 100,000 Americans died from overdose of an opioid in 2016. In West Virginia, the numbers are much higher. And these numbers don’t account for those living with an addiction that rewires their brain to want one thing: more of the drug.

The six researchers highlighted in the magazine are only a few of the people at WVU working to understand what’s going wrong and how to fix it.
