WVU Medicine celebrates volunteers
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – In celebration of National Volunteer Week, WVU Medicine Jefferson Medical Center and Berkeley Medical Center recently hosted luncheons to honor all volunteers, auxilians, and chaplains who provide support to hospital staff, patients, families, and the community.
On April 16, the Berkeley Medical Center volunteers, auxilians, and chaplains were honored during a luncheon at the Hilton Garden Inn in Martinsburg. The Jefferson Medical Center volunteers, auxilians, and chaplains were treated to lunch in the hospital’s first floor conference room on April 18.
As part of both annual luncheons, volunteers were recognized for hours of service to the medical centers over the past year. Members of the hospital auxiliary, the organization that plans fundraisers in support of the hospitals, were recognized for the financial support they provide the hospitals. The chaplains at both facilities were honored for their volunteer efforts in providing spiritual support for patients, families, and staff.
In addition to recognizing the volunteers for their efforts year round, National Volunteer Week is also an opportunity for Berkeley and Jefferson Medical Centers to create an awareness of volunteer opportunities within the hospitals.
