WVU Medicine flu shot campaign to launch Oct. 2

WVU Medicine will launch its influenza vaccination campaign in October. All staff, providers, and volunteers across the organization are, once again, required to receive the flu vaccine, unless they have an approved medical or religious exemption. View the policy.

The flu shot campaign at Potomac Valley Hospital will kick off on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 1:30 p.m. – 4 p.m. ; Thursday, Oct. 4, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.; and Friday, Oct. 5, 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.

All three events will be held in the Conference Room of Potomac Valley Hospital.

Employees are encouraged to attend to get their flu shot. Employees should complete the influenza consent prior to receiving their flu shot.

Beginning Monday, Oct. 7, flu shots will be available in Employee Health. You must call and schedule an appointment with Employee Health x 3773.

For employees working off-campus, Employee Health will be scheduling a date to come to these locations to administer the vaccine. The schedule will be posted soon.

Employees are asked to wear a short-sleeve or sleeveless shirt, if possible, when receiving a flu shot. If you will be wearing a jacket, please make sure it's one that can be taken off for the vaccination.

If you are requesting medical exemption for the flu shot, your primary care provider will need to sign a medical exemption form. You will need to submit the signed exemption form to Employee Health and by Wednesday, Nov. 6.

If you are requesting a religious exemption for the flu shot, you will need to submit a completed religious exemption form to Employee Health in ReadySet by Wednesday, Nov. 6.

If you receive your flu shot from a provider outside of Employee Health, proof of the immunization must be provided to Employee Health in order to be compliant with the requirement for mandatory vaccination. You must bring your flu immunization record to Employee Health by Wednesday, Dec. 4, to fulfill the requirement.

Employees with questions about the flu vaccine are encouraged to review these FAQs from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
