WVU Medicine seeks protective equipment in case of COVID-19 surge

WVU Medicine is seeking stockpiles of protective equipment for a possible surge of COVID-19 patients that will require care providers to use more personal protective equipment than normal.

Supply levels are solid now, according to hospital officials, however, the organization is preparing for a possible increase in COVID-19 patients.

Anyone with a stockpile of masks, protective gloves, gowns, or goggles who would be willing to donate, if needed, can contact WVU Medicine at donatesupplies@wvumedicine.org.

“We don’t want to take people’s stuff if we don’t need it,” said Stephen Hoffmann, MD, vice president of clinical integration, WVU Medicine. "However, knowing where more protective supplies are located in an emergency would be extraordinarily useful.”

Even non-medical-grade protective supplies can be used if medical-grade supplies are exhausted.
