WVU Nursing: Duffy tapped as interim associate dean for research

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University School of Nursing has announced the appointment of Joanne Duffy, Ph.D., R.N., as interim associate dean for research and Ph.D. education.  

Dr. Duffy is currently the WVU Hospitals Endowed Evidence-Based Practice Research Professor and director of the School’s Ph.D. Program. Before joining the School of Nursing, Duffy built an extensive research résumé at both private and public institutions, including Indiana University, Catholic University, Georgetown University, Shenandoah University and George Mason University.

“We are very fortunate to have someone with Dr. Duffy’s experience in this vital position,” said Elisabeth Shelton, Ph.D., R.N., interim dean of the WVU School of Nursing.

Duffy’s research has been supported by a broad range of federal, private, association and institutional funding.  She has published extensively, and her Quality Caring Model is used in multiple practice settings throughout the nation.
