Off-label Use of Rapid Response Fentanyl Test Strips as an Opioid Overdose Prevention Strategy
The proposed mixed-methods study will investigate the positive and negative consequences of fentanyl test strip use by people who inject drugs. Knowledge gained from this study will contribute to scholarship on the use of new drug detection technologies by people who inject drugs in North Carolina and West Virginia, states with very high rates of overdose mortality. Findings will also be used to develop primary overdose prevention strategies, thereby advancing the applied research agenda to address the opioid crisis.
