Understanding IL-27 as a Negative Regulator of Protective Immunity during Neonatal Sepsis

Neonates exhibit increased susceptibility to microbial infections that include bacterial sepsis. This is consistent with a unique immune profile related to adults. The research in this proposal will make important advances toward identification of immunological mechanisms that shape the immune response early in life and contribute to susceptibility to infection.
