Call for Abstracts: Mountain State Conference on Disabilities

Abstracts are due Dec. 15

Abstracts are being accepted now through Dec. 15 for the inaugural Mountain State Conference on Disabilities, set for April 14-15, 2020 in Canaan Valley.

The two-day conference will provide cutting edge, best practice and evidence-based sessions for professionals while offering applied skill-based workshops for individuals on how to navigate through educational, medical and other journeys they may experience.

The planning committee is interested in receiving abstracts pertaining to research, evaluation, evidence-based programs and policies pertaining to this year’s conference theme, "Journey to the Top." Conference tracks include Transitions, Employment, Health & Wellness and Disability Rights.

Successful abstracts will be chosen to provide a successful list of best practice, evidence-based presentations, poster sessions, panels and applied skill-based workshops. The committee is also seeking abstracts that would be presented in hands-on, interactive and engaging ways to share information, showcase individual success stories, highlight advocacy and access solutions to community-wide issues within various program tracks.

Presenters will be notified via email of abstract status by Jan. 10, 2020. To submit your abstract, click here.

The conference is hosted by disability partners across the state, including the WVU Center for Excellence in Disabilities, the West Virginia Developmental Disabilities Council, Disability Rights of WV, and the Autism Training Center at Marshall University.
