Develop a New Resource

The HSC Office of Research and Graduate Education is pleased to announce renewed funding for an internal program to support investigators who endeavor to develop a critical resource or technique to drive competitiveness of team projects.

The goal of this program is to spur new transformative research projects that critically rely on currently unavailable resources or techniques, such as cell lines, assays, reagents, therapeutic agents, genetically modified rodents and related products/devices.

Because the Develop a New Resource program seeks to foster partnerships around thematic areas of emphasis at the HSC, priority will be given to proposals with the potential for the broadest impact and that utilize centrally supported Shared Research Resources. Applicants must document the value of pilot funding for multiple HSC laboratories, particularly in the context of interdisciplinary collaborations, rather than those of relevance to a single laboratory.

Applications consist of a statement (maximum length of one page) justifying the need for the resource or technique to be developed, the specific steps involved in its development- including a detailed budget justification-, and the value of the resource to teams of investigators across the HSC.

Non-renewable funding up to $15,000 will be available immediately. PIs may receive only one pilot award per year and cannot use funds for PI, staff or student salaries.  Faculty who receive support are asked to acknowledge this Resource Development Grant Support; Office of Research and Graduate Education, WVU Health Sciences Center in podium talks, poster presentations and manuscripts as appropriate.

Deadlines for 2020 are January 31st, 2020 and July 31st, 2020.

Questions related to this announcement, and completed applications with signature page should be submitted by email to Ms. Holly Legleiter (hlegleiter@hsc.wvu.edu)  in the Office of Research and Graduate Education.
