MSIII Psychiatry Rotation: Those medical students who stay in Morgantown spend two weeks on clinical rotations devoted to treating addiction patients in a variety of settings including inpatient dual diagnosis, intensive outpatient and the Comprehensive Opioid Addiction Treatment (COAT) clinic. Their experience is longitudinal in that they see patients from the day they arrive sick and in withdrawal through patients with many years of recovery. In addition to physician mentoring the students have two hours of didactics on addiction medicine.
