Alexandria Dayton, a Cherry Hill, New Jersey native, is a recent graduate of the Health Informatics and Information Management graduate at West Virginia University (WVU).  Dayton toped the Dean's and President’s lists for her academic achievement during the fall 2018 semester at WVU, and graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in May 2020.

Dayton has always been passionate about Healthcare, but has only recently been exposed to the struggles faced by rural communities in Appalachia through her experience as a Unit Clerk in the Emergency Department at Ruby Memorial Hospital.  During the experience, she noticed a stark contrast between health care in rural communities and the easy access to care in the more populated state of NJ.  Dayton also took an opportunity as an Information Technology Intern, where she was able to contribute to the implementation of the Reynolds Memorial Hospital Epic system; the system was merged into the WVU Medicine Healthcare System.

Additionally, last summer, Dayton took part in planning a food drive to benefit WV residents in need; she and her team were able to raise money, as well as collect over 900 items to donate to the Mountaineer Food Bank.  Dayton (a former lifeguard) has also recently been honored by New Jersey's Governor, Phil Murphy, for saving the life of a drowning swimmer.  She is honored to be a Rural Community Health Scholar, and excited about the opportunities ahead.
