Ornish Reversal Program Open House

Thursday, July 9, 2015 from 05:00 PM - 06:30 PM

Event Location: Rooms 1 and 2, John Jones Conference Center

The Wellness Program will host an open house to showcase the countless health benefits of participating in the Dr. Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease, which will kick off this August at WVU Medicine. The open house will take place 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 9, in Rooms 1 and 2 in the John Jones Conference Center, located on the ground floor of the Health Sciences Center.

The Dr. Dean Ornish Program for Reversing Heart Disease is a nine-week program offering hope to heart patients by enabling them to lower their risk of heart attack and avoid the need for angioplasty and coronary bypass surgery. There are four elements of the program encompassing nutrition, exercise, stress management and social support.

Candidates for the program include:

  • People who are contemplating bypass surgery or angioplasty but seeking an alternative that may reduce the need for these procedures
  • People who have previously experienced one or more heart procedures and want to minimize the chances of repeating them
  • People diagnosed with coronary artery disease (angina or past heart attacks)
  • People with significant risk factors for heart disease, such as high cholesterol levels and a strong family history

To register for the open house, call 304-293-2520. For more information, visit the Wellness Program website.
