Participants sought for HIM medical coding education program

Fifteen candidates, plus two alternates, will be selected to complete a WVU Medicine Health Information Management (HIM) medical coding education program. The program is designed to train students to become eligible for a position as a hospital coding specialist I or a professional coding analyst. Internal and external candidates will be considered.

The cost of the program is $2,710. HIM will offer a $2,000 scholarship, making the final cost $710 for each participant. Fees must be paid in full prior to the start of classes

Upon completion of the course, students sit for the Certified Procedural Coding (CPC) exam.

The Medical Coding Education Program will run Feb. 7 to June 22, 2017. Applications opened Oct. 31.
