West Virginia University: Institute for Community and Rural Health

WVU Institute for Community and Rural Health (WVU ICRH) continues to support scholarships for professional students in exchange for a commitment to practice in underserved areas of the state. We also are involved in health career programs for rural high school students via WV HSTA (Health Sciences and Technology Academy). During the spring semester we hold our annual WVU Rural Health Day for undergraduate students who have an interest in medicine from colleges and universities throughout West Virginia and adjoining states.

West Virginia University: Eastern Campus

The West Virginia University Eastern Campus (WVU Eastern) serves the nine-county, eastern panhandle of West Virginia through clinical partnerships with WVU Medicine's Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg and Jefferson Medical Center in Ranson. Both hospitals provide opportunities for those wishing to explore training in the rural healthcare setting.

The Eastern campus has an immersive longitudinal curriculum for third-year medical students with many one-on-one student to faculty experiences in all disciplines. The campus further focuses on the state's burden of diabetes, obesity, heart disease and stroke through a new WVU Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Health.
