Websites

We provide a content management system (Umbraco) for WVU Health Sciences websites, as well as design services, technical support and tools to help groups communicate effectively on the web.

Your communicators work closely with the Health Sciences web development team to create and edit websites.

Website Edits  #

  • Academic sites - Departmental pages are edited by either website editors who have been appointed/approved by the chair, dean or director of a department, or by the emailing the CMS Desk at cmsdesk@hsc.wvu.edu. To determine the website editor, contact the CMS Desk at cmsdesk@hsc.wvu.edu.
  • Clinical sites - Use the form on Connect for wvumedicine.org clinical website updates (login required). If you have questions, contact your school communicator.

Accessibility #

The content available on your website should be accessible to the widest range of people and devices as possible. Web accessibility is the inclusive practice of removing barriers that prevent interaction with, or access to websites, by people with disabilities. HSC ITS reserves the right to remove any content violating UR Accessibility Guidelines. Contact University Relations - Digital for information about accessibility training.

Directory #

Updates to the Health Sciences Directory can only be made by a directory administrator. To determine your administrator, look up your individual profile or department in the directory. In the profile or department listing, click on the Additions/Corrections? link to display the list the directory administrators that can make updates to the profile or department.

User photos can only be uploaded or edited by SOLE Support. Photos should be sent to solesupport@hsc.wvu.edu. Be sure to review the photo requirements before submitting.

WVU Medicine and Clinical profiles are listed in a separate directory. Contact the WVU Medicine Helpdesk at 304-598-4357 to make any edits/additions to WVU Medicine and Clinical profiles.

The WVU Directory provides contact information for all University students, faculty and staff, and it requires logging in with WVU credentials. Visit the WVU IT Help Center for information about updating your WVU Directory profile.

Online Forms #

We recommend that users consider one of the following web form service providers.

  • Wufoo – Wufoo is a paid subscription form service with multiple plans available. Features include a powerful and intuitive form builder, notification system, easy embedding of forms, a reporting tool, data export options and support for visual themes. View directions on using a WVU-branded theme with Wufoo forms.
  • Qualtrics – Qualtrics is a web-based survey tool available for free to all faculty, staff and students. To access Qualtrics, visit wvu.qualtrics.com and login using your WVU Login credentials to claim a Qualtrics account. If this is your first time using Qualtrics, click “I Do Not Have An Account” and an account will instantly be created and associated with your Login.

We encourage form publishers to research the available options and select the service that will best meet their project requirements and departmental budget.

Social Security numbers, WVUID numbers, credit card numbers or other confidential data should not be collected via web forms.

You are responsible for any data that you collect via web forms.
