Advarra Cybersecurity Incident

A cybersecurity incident occurred through Advarra, a West Virginia University vendor, but it was NOT a data breach of any WVU or WVU Medicine systems.

The impacted data included limited information about certain WVU clinical trial participants including name, DOB, SSN, and/or provider. Notice to affected individuals has been sent by Advarra explaining the data elements involved.

Advarra has taken numerous steps to prevent any similar incidents from happening in the future. While Advarra is unaware of any identity theft or fraud related to information acquired in this incident, as an additional precaution Advarra is providing complimentary credit monitoring services from Kroll for 24 months.
